Comstor gets Green Light from Cisco with Data Center Audit

Successful C-Series Audit and B Series Availability

Cirencester, UK, 28 April, 2010 – Comstor, a leading specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, today announced it has achieved a successful audit from Cisco for configuration of its C-Series Data Center products.

The audit, which covers European distribution, builds on Comstor's existing global authorisation to stock and distribute both C-Series and B-Series servers on a worldwide basis, and further confirms their commitment to the server market.

The C-Series audit allows Comstor to provide configurations tailored to customer demand, rather than fixed configured bundles. The ability to configure the servers both reduces lead times and increases availability of the desired configuration, as solutions can be built same day to order. Comstor will also look to provide further value by preloading and configuring application software to provide system solutions for the customer.

Russell Blackburn, Director Data Center Comstor Europe commented: "There are many different configurations of servers that customers could ask for and by passing this audit we will be able to help resellers gain traction with selling Cisco C-Series servers. This is the next step in our plans, working with Cisco, to become the number one distributor in this market. It builds on our existing capabilities and we have very significant plans underway to continue to provide support and enablement programs to both existing and new resellers in gearing up for this technology.”

Bernadette Wightman, Managing Director, UK & Ireland Channels at Cisco commented: “Comstor is showing ongoing commitment and investment in the Cisco Unified Computing System portfolio. This is another example of them helping to drive the Data Center Market with Cisco and we look forward to working with them through the coming months on this opportunity for both of us.”

Cisco’s new UCS platform offers many operational benefits, especially for mid-market companies looking to decrease their IT hardware footprints and power consumption.
Cisco UCS integrates network, computational, storage access and virtualisation elements into a single cohesive system—resulting in simplified system management, higher performance and greater availability.

Comstor, which maintains operations in six continents, has been carrying Cisco's entire UCS portfolio since last November when it became authorised to distribute the entire range of B-series and C-series servers.
